About This Project
Take a look at this recent installation of solar in San Diego, CA!
We started this project after the customer reached out to us in late September. We immediately began working with the homeowners association (HOA), as sometimes that can be the lengthiest process!
Luckily, California homeowners have some assurances when wanting to go solar with an HOA. California established the Solar Rights Act in 1978. This limits the ability of HOAs and local governments to prevent the installation of solar panel systems.
In addition, all property owners in the Golden State enjoy solar easement rights, which they can carry out on a case-by-case basis with their neighbors. California also has the Solar Shade Control Act, which prohibits tree branches from shading solar panels (applicable if the tree was planted after the solar energy system was installed).
At the same time we contacted the HOA, we simultaneously finished design and submitted for permits. We received all approvals in November and scheduled our installation for early-December. This utility actually granted us permission to operate quickly, and we were able to turn on the system the same month we installed.
